The Hunger Games - Suzanne Collins

If for some reason you haven't already read The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, then you need to do so immediately. But, be prepared. All you're going to want to do is read this book and things like attending to work and family members will only get in the way. So, get the book, then check into a hotel, hang up the do not disturb sign and turn off your cell phone. It's that hang-onto-your-hats good.

I don't even feel like I'm going out on a limb when I say it is the best YA adventure books I have ever read. I'm also impressed that even though a woman wrote this action packed, high intensity book, she choose not to hide behind her initials to disguise her sex. And if there are still any men out there who persist in shying away from books that are written by women, evolve already or you'll be missing out.

I won't get into the details of the book. I'm sure you know how to look things up using the internet, but I will say that, besides being action packed with unanticipated plot twists, it is beautifully crafted and thought provoking in a way you rarely find in adult books, let alone the YA section.

  3. I've been interested in checking out this series for awhile now, but up until now I didn't know anyone who had read it. With that sort of recommendation, I absolutely MUST check it out! Do you think there's an audiobook version?

  5. I'll have time to indulge in reading actual books when I no longer have to edit Fraggle comics. And you don't want me to stop editing Fraggle comics, do you? =)
