Different Tastes! - Joanna Estep

Here's a preview of the first page of my Traveling Matt story, Different Tastes! Joanna Estep is the artist and I think she did an amazing job. Check out her website, she's done some good stuff.

Joanna will also be the artist on the Fraggle Rock feature I wrote, Where Have All the Doozers Gone?

Lost Season 5 - Jeremy Davies - That is my sniff!

So, I was watching a bit of Rescue Dawn and there was an intriguing bit where two P.O.W.s are talking about a can that used to have some beans in it. The first guy says, "Does it still smell like the beans? Can I sniff it?" And the other says, "No, that is my sniff."

Okay, so it doesn't sound like much written out in some random blog, but the "that is my sniff" guy really sold the line and it amused me for days. Much to my delight, the same actor was cast in season... ? ... 5 (and maybe a bit of 4) of Lost. I've been watching it all the way through while I ride my stationary bike. I looked him up and he's Jeremy Davies. I'm putting him down as a new favorite. Great voice and I love his twitchy intensity.

Not the final art

Hey - This isn't necessarily the final art for issue #2 of Fraggle Rock, but I'm posting it anyway:

It looks cute, although I'm not sure what the lead story is about.

I handed in my first draft of the lead story for issue #3 yesterday. Here's hoping I don't have to tweak it too much.

What I Learned

Well, I wasn't sure if I was allowed to say anything yet, but seeing as they announced it in their blog...

Belle Bridge Books is going to publish my middle school novel, What I Learned About Being a Cheerleader.

Here's what was reported in Publisher's Marketplace:

Feb. 19, 2010

Reported in today's Deal News:

Adrianne Ambrose's WHAT I LEARNED ABOUT BEING A CHEERLEADER, the humorous, endearing diary of a middle school geek who wins a spot as a cheerleader that changes her life, to Debra Dixon at Bell Bridge Books, in a nice deal, for publication in July 2010 (World).

So, hooray! I'm excited that they want to get it to press so quickly. Belle Bridge Books have been nothing but pleasant so far. Plus, they yanked my manuscript out of their slush pile, so I'm definitely complimented.

If all goes smoothly, it looks like the fabulous Ted Naifeh will be illustrating the cover.

Here's a little Ted art to keep you happy:

Fraggleified

A friend sent me this link and I found it very bizarre:

LINK

Yes, I'm now officially part of the Fraggle Wiki. Weird. And someone read my blog to fill in the info about my favorite Fraggle (Traveling Matt). Very strange.

I definitely do not like reading about myself online. It makes me feel a bit itchy, like I've unintentionally eavesdropped on someone talking about me.

And now, for your viewing pleasure, and because it's hard to let a good theme die, another child in a goat cart:

More Fraggle Action

I got the green light last week that I'll be writing the lead story for the third issue of the Fraggle Rock comic. My story will feature the Doozers. So, I've got to get on my Fraggle game-face and start writing.

The bad news is that my Traveling Matt story got bumped from issue one to issue two. This is disappointing, but apparently can't be helped. But when they compile all four Fragglicious issues into one graphic novel, I'll have two stories in there, so that's pretty good.

Now I've got to watch some TV. It's research, I swear! Get down at Fraggle Rock!
